Artist's statement:
I like to take photos of places, things that mirror an internal state of feelings, emotion. In this photo essay, I have tried to convey the sense of loss and destruction by juxtaposing the use of warm, bright colors with the grim reality of abandoned, destroyed rooms.
The pictures were taken at Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The prison, built in the 1800s and closed in 1971, housed such famous criminals as Al Capone, the Chicago Mob Boss pursued by Eliot Ness and the Untouchables, and Willie Sutton, the notorious bank roThebber. There are rumors that ghosts linger inside the walls and teams of paranormal investigators conduct their research here.
